Assisting Our Clients with the Aging Process
Elder Law is not so much a separate area of law as it is a sensitivity to the needs and concerns of those who are of retirement age or older and knowledge of how the law can be used in meeting those needs and concerns.
Both of us have extensive experience in working with older clients and their families to make sure that the necessary documents are in place that will safeguard assets and provide for the client's choice of decision makers, financial and medical, in the event of future disability.
Membership in the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and the Washington Chapter of that organization, as well as the Elder Law Section of the Washington State Bar Association help us stay current on issues and changes in law.
This is particularly important in the area of Medicaid and Copes planning when nursing home care or other assisted living care is needed or anticipated.
If a guardianship becomes necessary to provide for and protect an older person, we can assist with that as well.
While our offices are on the second floor, we maintain a conference room on the first level that is wheelchair accessible. Our parking lot has a ramp to the sidewalk between the two buildings. If possible, indicate when you make an appointment that you would like to meet downstairs.
